SIX CLUB RECORDS FALL AS BRILLIANT BADGERS POWER ON

Sneyd Pudding Run 2015 - BADGERS
Despite the there being significantly less races to choose from in the calendar in mid-December, BADGERS ran at the hi-profile Telford 10K and the Sneyd Christmas Pudding Run 5 and 10 mile races at the weekend and returned with no fewer than six new club records and a glut of new personal bests.

Several top GB athletes were in attendance at this year’s annual Telford 10K which saw BADGERS send their speedy trio of Danny Warren, Dave Jackson and Chris Horton over to get involved. The rapid Warren finished just inside the top 100 (to give an indication of the type of company the BADGERS were keeping), yet he emerged with a stunning new personal best and 10K club record of 34:47, well over a minute off his previous mark. It was just as well too because Chris Horton’s superb run of 36:05 was 6 seconds quicker than Warren’s original club mark, the veteran runner having to settle for a new club V40 best and handsome new PB of his own. Not wanting to miss out on the action, Dave Jackson bagged himself yet another PB with a fabulous run of 36:44. The Baddesley ace has been in great form in 2015 and has been getting PB’s by the trowelful.

The Sneyd 10 mile saw four BADGERS try their luck in the popular festive footrace. Martyn Barrett led the way with a new V50 club record and PB with a great time of 69:05. If Barrett was gold, then Rachel Crump was certainly frankincense and Alan Argyle myrrh as the veteran duo also set new club and personal bests for the 10 mile distance. Crump could smell glory from the off and breezed to a new club record with her quite brilliant time of 72:53. The mercurial Argyle too improved on his previous mark running 82:29, powering past Nicki Bowman on the run-in, who herself managed an outstanding PB of her own in 82:38.

In the 5 mile event, it was David Craig who was first BADGER back, his time of 34:51 good enough to earn the likeable veteran 12th place in the race. Steph White was first in her age category, missing her own club record by just 4 seconds in 39:06. Rachael Bunting clocked an excellent 40:46 while Lily Bowman made a welcome return to action recording a good time of 43:50 with Judy Parkes 46:35 and Leesa Dennis 49:13 both recording new personal bests. Ladies Captain Anna Gibiino ran 1:41:20 in the Moreton Morrell 20K race and was undoubtedly the most festively attired BADGER over the weekend.

Jason Husselbee-Orwin continues to close in on John Hanson’s parkrun record as he notched up his 121st appearance at Conkers. At Kingsbury Water Park parkrun on Saturday, Chris Horton ran a magnificent 17:50 in dire conditions to finish first BADGER back. Incredibly, Carl Holyoak managed to run a PB, despite the course being treacherous underfoot. His time of 20:37 was a testament to his new found form. Alan Argyle ran 25:15, Eamon Thawley 25:36 just ahead of John and Maggi Savin-Baden. Fay Casey performed well, Liz Peel helped her wife Rosie Harding to a new PB in 30:59 and Carolyn Hall also ran.
