Notts 10 2015 - BADGERS
BADGERS appear to be enjoying something of a purple patch at present as members seem to be on a mission to re-write the club record books or at worst run personal best performances as activity over the weekend bore testament.

On Thursday evening, several members travelled to Leicester for the second 5K race of the Summer Series programme. Ian Mansell (17:24) finished 2nd and Danny Warren (17:33) 4th while fellow BADGERS Adrian Payne (20:10 - PB), David Craig (21:30), David Earp (21:48 – PB), Esther McCullagh (22:20 – PB) and Rachael Bunting (24:10 – PB) all performed superbly.

Friday saw six BADGERS take the trip to a wet Holme Pierrepont to run the Notts 10, which saw personal bests galore and four new club records. In a truly high class field, Danny Warren led the way with a magnificent time of 59:27 a PB and the biggest margin of improvement on any BADGERS record across all distances. Chris Horton was not far behind in 63:48 – a PB for him along with the club V40 record. Serena Baker kick-started her frantic weekend by claiming a new BADGERS women’s record in 83:33, Dave Earp ran a PB of 72:37, John Savin-Baden claimed a V50 club best in 87:19 while wife Maggi Savin-Baden ran a PB of her own in 89:34.

BADGERS were back in running action over the weekend with several members turning out at the local Parkruns. Chris Horton improved his own V40 club record as he finished second by just one second at a thoroughly wet Kingsbury Water Park. Ashley Taylor, Alan Argyle, Pete Boardman and John & Mandy Hanson all took part too. Over at Conkers, David Jackson continued his excellent form finishing in third place in the wet in an impressive time of 18:03 that would have been enough to see him finish first at Kingsbury. Jason Husselbee-Orwin also ran. At Maidenhead, Amy Stredder ran 28:44 while at Corby, David Craig, Richard Hill and Stephanie White all flew a somewhat belated BADGERS banner. Numerous BADGERS involved themselves in a wet and muddy Wolf-run as part of club Chairperson Karen Thompson’s hen-party.

On Sunday, Adie Kirkham completed his 40th marathon – his first as a race pacer, helping many runners achieve their target time of 4 hours. Serena Baker somehow found the energy to run the Swansea half marathon in a respectable 1:54:40 while Alan Argyle and Stuart Walton completed the Two Castles 10k between Kenilworth and Warwick, the duo finishing in times of 50:46 (PB and new v60 club record) and 51:22 respectively. The gutsy Luke Miles completed the gruelling Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire in 6:58, while Steph White was first veteran lady back in the Market Harborough 10k race which also saw David Craig finish 13th and Richard Hill 48th.

At Long Eaton, Chris Horton ran his third club record in as many days taking the V40 5 mile honour in a time of 30:31, finishing in a fine 6th position and first veteran in the race which also saw Mark Robinson take chunks off his PB, ending strongly in an excellent time of 38:12. James Eckloff ran the St Albans half in 1:41:23, David Craig finished 6th in the Go Dad run in which he picked up the most bizarre finisher’s momento of a pair of blue Y-fronts – that’s his story anyway!
