BADGERS were spread far and wide this weekend!

Tamworth 5 - BADGERS
BADGERS were spread far and wide this weekend competing in over a dozen separate races all over the country, as far afield as the Isle of Wight to the Lake District. The stand out performance was Aaron Chetwynd at the Calke Abbey 10k who broke 40 minutes for the first time finishing the tough course in an excellent 39:31 (PB). Alan Argyle also ran a 10K PB and with it claimed an over 60’s club record as he clocked 47:59 in the Worcester 10k. A quartet of BADGERS ran the Tamworth 5 mile race, Matt Tonks finishing 6th overall in 30:30, Dave Earp finished in 36:28 narrowly in front of Esther McCullagh who set a new PB and new club best in 36:46. Anna Gibiino continued her impressive comeback after injury to run 40:25.

Abbie Liddle ran in the Stoke 10k and clocked a fine 50:22, Chris Upton took on the Golden Gate Gallop 5 mile race finishing in 36:25 and former dancer Anne Wells showed her fantastic footwork was as good as ever running in the Birmingham Canal Canter 18 mile race at the weekend.

At the somewhat brutal Shindig in the Shire event, Olivia Stacey ran the marathon in just under five hours, Adi Payne managed third position in the half marathon 1:53:16 ahead of weary team mate Jared Karim.
At various Parkruns on Saturday, three BADGERS enjoyed high placings. Ian Mansell ran well to finish second at Brueton Park in 17:59, Dave Jackson continued his excellent form at Kingsbury to also come second in 17:46 while Chris Horton managed third place up at Keswick parkrun 18:40.

At Medina parkrun in the Isle of Wight, Saul Oxford ran 23:07. Closer to home Esther McCullagh put in a great run at Kingsbury 21:32 (PB) as did William Cartwright 21:46 and Mark Williams 21:53 who both ran personal bests. Carl Holyoak ran a fine 22:00 with the help of his young son, the evergreen John Savin-Baden ran a new personal best of 23:19 – other runners included John Hanson, Alan Argyle, Liz Peel, Anna Savin-Baden, Karen Missen and Mandy Hanson. At Conkers parkrun, Chris Upton finished 20 seconds ahead of club-mate Jason Husselbee-Orwin.

On Sunday night, several BADGERS attended the celebrations that were in order following the wedding of club Chairperson Karen Thompson who tied the knot with her long-term partner Jo to conclude a particularly happy week for all at the north Warwickshire club.
