Monika - BADGERS
With the London Marathon fast approaching, Club stalwart Adie Kirkham was one impressive Badger in marathon racing action over the Easter weekend in Northampton in a less high-profile event but certainly no-less worthy performance wise. The 45 year old Atherstone man ran not just one but THREE marathons in three days with an aggregate time of an incredible 11 hours and 48 minutes - a truly remarkable feat of fitness.
Other notable performances of the weekend came from Monika Lampart who claimed first place in the Dash of the Titan on Saturday 3 laps of 5miles with 30+ obstacles each lap and qualified for OCR Championships UK as a result.

Stuart Walton and Alan Argyle both ran the Chasewater 10k in just over 52 minutes apiece, Anna Gibiino finished 4th female in the Northants Trail Run-fest half marathon in 1:51, while Pete and Anne Wells trotted out in the Massey Ferguson Easter 5 mile race. Pete finished 38th in his age category while Anne came 3rd in hers in a cracking time of 42:23.

The Easter weekend generally sees a reduction in the number of available races and certainly it seemed that the Badgers predominately utilised the bank holiday to bank some training miles, especially those participating in the upcoming London Marathon scheduled for April 26th. Badgers have their highest ever contingent of runners taking part this year. Lucy Billings leads the way in her debut at the distance, her fundraising efforts alone are a real credit to her determination £5,500 and still counting! Jayne Potter, Chris Horton, Monika Lampart, Tim Baker, Kay Whitehead, Mark Darby, Becce Clarke and Angela Stallings are also taking part.

Many Badgers were taking part in the fast growing Parkrun phenomenum. Ian Mansell did brilliantly, finishing first over of 500 runners at Coventry in a time of 17:38, husband and wife team Carla and Pete Boardman headed to Eastbourne off the back of Pete’s recent KWP runner of the month prize. It was Carla who had bragging rights finishing two minutes ahead of her improving other half. Anna Gibiino ran 23:28 at Braunstone, while 15 Badgers descended upon Kingsbury Water Park with Adrian Payne first back in a solid time of 20:17 for the 5k event. Other runners were Dave Earp, Nicki Bowman, Emily Karim, Steph White, Stephanie Davies, Jason Husselbee-Orwin, Paul Grubb (PB - 24:22), Janet Crumpton, Chris Upton, Neil Gourlay, Pete Wells, Alan Argyle, Eamon Thawley (PB – 23:42) and Vicki Howard.
