BADGER - Bosworth Half Marathon
In-form Danny Warren continued his run of great form as he finished first at Kingsbury Water Park Parkrun on Saturday ahead of Tipton Harriers’ former Tamworth AC star Phil Clamp. Warren’s time of 17:23 was just short of his personal best but good enough on the day to be the first runner home. Other runners included the likeable David Craig in a return to form (21:08), Ashley Taylor, Jon Hanson, Jason Husselbee-Orwin, Alan Argyle, Jillian Callis, Robert Frost, the improving Leesa Dennis, Mandy Hanson and Pete Boardman. David Jackson ran at nearby Conkers and clocked up a decent time of 17:47 and with it 4th position, a couple of minutes ahead of Stuart Walton.

Places with the prefix “Market” seemed to be the destination of choice for most BADGERS on Sunday - Market Bosworth was the venue for BADGERS honing their silky long distance skills, the 15th Half Marathon taking place on a gorgeous sunny spring morning. The irrepressible Jackson continued his fine form bossing a top 15 finish in an amazing time of 1:22:28. Chris Horton ran 1:32:08 and first female finisher was Monika Lampart in a superb PB of 1:37:06 just two seconds in front of the evergreen Martyn Barrett. Anna Gibiino came second in her age group 1:43:59, veteran Alan Argyle PB’d with 1:55:47. Will Cartwright clocked 2:05, Luke Miles and Paul Grubb both ran 2:06 five minutes ahead of Jason Husselbee-Orwin (PB). In addition to the running, the club also supplied several marshals to the event, none more prominent than Angela Stallings seen here in the photograph!

In Market Drayton, the 10k race saw Jared Karim first back in an impressive 42:32 (PB), just 15 seconds ahead of David Craig. Richard Hill ran a solid 48:21, Clare Whetton 52:28 (a well deserved PB), Nicki Bowman escorted Lord Thawley to the line in a time of 52:51, Lily Bowman, Mandy Hanson and Vicky Cawley also put in fine performances.

In Market Harborough, nobody ran due to the dearth of races. Carl Holyoak did run the Carsington 7+ (7.75miles) however, finishing 37th out of 307 runners on a particularly hilly course with a time of 58:35.

This week sees a busy period of action for BADGERS – the final winter league race of the season along with the ever-popular Kingsbury Classic 10k are just two of the events that are expected to see a large Badger presence. In addition to that, entries are now open for the BADGERS Atherstone 10k race on August 30th.
