Less Than A Month To Go Before The BADGERS Atherstone 10K

As the club begin to make the final arrangements ahead of the hugely anticipated 2nd BADGERS Atherstone 10k race, many club members were out and about in various races around the globe over the weekend.

Near home, at Conkers Parkrun, Dave Jackson ran a terrific time of 17:49 to finish 5th overall ahead of Chris Upton who himself clocked 23:23 ahead of his OCR debut event later in the day. Kingsbury Water Park saw Ashley Taylor fly round the course in 22:12 while Alan Argyle continued his purple patch running a personal best of 22:56 which improves his own v60 club record at the 5k distance. Luke Miles, Jason Husselbee-Orwin and Judy Parkes also ran, while both Paul Grubb and Simon Butlin made it a family affair, completing their race alongside their offspring! In keeping with this several thousand miles away in Torrens, near Adelaide, Dave Southwell and his daughter Elizabeth both successfully completed the slighter warmer 5k course in Australia!

In Lanzarote, Ian Mansell defied injury as well as being on holiday, to finish 9th in the Puerto del Carmen 10K. Serena Baker celebrated her 40th birthday by running her first Ultra marathon alongside fellow debutante Karen Thompson, the scenic and demanding Railway Ultra in Ironbridge. Fellow BADGERS Adie Kirkham and Matt Tonks both participated in the event in 2014 and came back for more punishment!

On the OCR scene, Carl Holyoak, Chris Upton, Adie Payne and Aaron Chetwynd shrugged off their post TR24 blues with a fine performance in the Mudnificent Seven event alongside David Earp. Holyoak rolled back the years and finished a fine 42nd out of 1484 runners, 5th in his age category. Chetwynd finished an incredible 15th with team-mate Payne not far behind in 25th place.
