Four New Club Records In Just One Weekend!

Draycote Water 10k 2015 - BADGERS
BADGERS were back in League action last week, specifically at the Joy Cann 5 evening race at Huncote in the Leicestershire Road Running League. Eleven BADGERS raced at the sell out event, first home in 23rd place being Danny Warren in a fine time of 29:26 despite vomiting mid-race. The returning Dave Jackson was not far behind, 31st in 29:54 with the rapidly improving Adi Payne (32:27 – PB) also making the top 100. Steph White clocked 39:02 a personal best and three seconds better than Serna Baker’s club record. Alan Argyle continues to enjoy an Indian summer recording yet another PB and V60 club record with a time of 39:09. Dave Earp, Ashley Taylor, Richard Hill, Rachael Bunting (40:21 - PB), Stuart Walton (42:27 – PB) also ran, as did veteran John Shade after a short spell on the sidelines.

At Kingsbury Water Park Parkrun, Chris Horton was first back in 5th place and a cracking time of 17:36. Adi Payne helped himself to a fine PB of 19:23 while other participants included club secretary David Craig, Carl Holyoak, Ashley Taylor, Paul Grubb, Dave Earp, Nicki Bowman, Simon Butlin, John Hanson, Judy Parkes, Tracey Elsdon and Carolyn Hall. Fresh back after her ultra marathon the previous week, Serena Baker also completed the course, accompanied by her energetic young sons Luke and Adam who turned in great performances of their own. In far-flung Sheringham, Norfolk, holidaying Jason Husselbee-Orwin ran 27:01 while closer to home, Monika Lampart clocked an impressive 21:04 at Coventry. Alan Argyle was the only overseas Badger this week, running at the event in Castle Demense near Cork in Ireland.

On Sunday, three BADGERS travelled to the picturesque Draycote Water near Rugby to compete in the 10k race there. Chris Horton won a bunch sprint on the line to finish 11th with a time of 37:23 (new V40 club record and PB to boot) while team mate Dave Jackson ran a fine 37:25 just two places behind. Veteran Mark Robinson ran a highly respectable 48:17. Meanwhile over at Lutterworth, Dave Earp ran in the 5 mile race notching a time of 36:18 in the process.

At Hook Norton in Oxfordshire, husband and wife duo Pete and Anne Wells ran the Hooky 6, a six mile race with Anne recording a fantastic 52:37 nearly two minutes faster than her own V50 club record and another tick in the box on her way to her Gold Standard Times Award. Pete ran a determined 60:23 of his own to round up an excellent weekend.

This week sees the BADGERS Men’s and Women’s teams travel to Leicester for the final race of the 2015 Summer Series before embarking on their 4th birthday celebrations at the weekend.
