CHETWYND KING OF THE COURSE

Aaron Chetwynd - BADGERS
Fresh-faced BADGER runner Aaron Chetwynd romped to a superb first place finish in Sunday’s Milton Keynes based NSPCC 10K race. The improving youngster posted a personal best time of 37:47 to win the race and with it an impressive trophy by a comfortable margin of 28 seconds from second place. This followed on a day after both he and fellow BADGER fiancée Sarah-Jane Fletcher ran new course bests at the Milton Keynes parkrun in 18:51 and 29:47 respectively, with Chetwynd picking up an impressive fourth place.

He was not the only runner to place high at a parkrun over the weekend. Fellow Baddesley man Danny Warren scooped 2nd spot at Rosliston in 17:55 on a tricky course which also saw Paul Grubb and Will Cartwright feature. Chris Baxter continues his good form running a quality 17:44 to grab second at Kingsbury Water Park ahead of a resurgent Matt Tonks who was 3rd in 18:10 with fellow veteran Chris Horton 5th in 18:26.

David Craig, Ian Smith and Aguwen Mibabi all ran strongly with Carl Holyoak leading the next wave through including newcomer Leon Millerchip, a determined Hannah Burgess and the comeback queen Nicki Bowman. Charlotte Oliver performed admirably in 26:32 while Nikki Aldridge, John Hanson, David Bailey and Leesa Dennis all ran well alongside youngster Izzie Bradford. Zoe Yeatman scorched to an impressive new personal best of 29:17 and the popular Ted Franklin ran a new best of 39:11 while Sharon Whitehead edged Teresa Buck at the line as they went for a sprint finish.

Jason Husselbee-Orwin ran at Conkers, Jon Davies at Worcester, Richard Hill sampled the new course at Hanbury Hall and Jennie Hand finished a fine fifth lady at Long Eaton. Locals in Minehead, Somerset must be wondering why so many BADGERS are appearing in their scene as this week it was the turn of glamourous hair-styling trio Clare Whetton, Rachel Hudspith and Vicky Cawley to star, all three running bravely having being out the night before.

Four BADGERS travelled on Saturday to Milton Keynes to complete the Rocky Marathon, Rocky as in the boxing hero rather than running over rocks that is! Having clocked up a remarkable 120 marathons between them, the incredibly hardworking quartet of Karen Thompson, Serena Baker, Liz Peel and Adie Kirkham successfully added another haul to their burgeoning collection of marathon memorabilia.

Anne Marie Matthews was at it too but this time in Nottingham marathon on the Sunday and she safely made it round in 6:05. There was a half marathon option here also and Colin Lees showed real courage to clock a PB of 1:43 in the event while fellow BADGER Claire Bradford also finished in 2:43.

At Draycote Water, Rob Boland (43:54) and David Craig (44:56) both continued their recent improvement with solid runs in the 10K race there. Chris Upton was in 10K action too as he completed the Global Energy race in 45:25. In Mechelen, Belgium, globetrotting BADGER Abbie Liddle ran a bold 53:58 in her race and finally in the East Leake Triathlon, Stephanie White clocked 1:22:31 to finish 5th within her age category – a fine efforst from the veteran multi-sport enthusiast.
