TREE-MENDOUS!

With the running fixture calendar somewhat bare, several Badgers runners have embarked on the "Run For The Trees" virtual challenge. A fun personal event for runners and walkers of all abilities, while lockdown restrictions are still in place.

With 3 levels to choose from, participants not only improve their fitness and mental well being but also leave a positive footprint on the environment resulting in the plantation of new trees in the National Forest.

Adrian PARKES has already completed 50 miles with the flying Rob CROW covering 90k plus. Judy PARKES has been dreaming of glory with her goal 75% complete. Other club members taking part include the evergreen Pip WESTON, Nicki BOWMAN and Anna DAWE, with the event running from 8th February until 7th March.

Vicky JENNINGS has impressed, covering just shy of 400 miles after 5 months on the Lands End to John O'Groats challenge with Emma MASSER continuing to up the mileage as she targets the Wolfpack 100k event this weekend.

Popular club member and regular parkrun volunteer Sharon WHITEHEAD has been back in action after a lengthy injury (much to the delight of club colleagues) and David GRANT is closing in on 100 miles for the month during his 28-day fitness regime.

With club membership renewal due, many club runners have trained for and taken part in virtual running events during the lockdown period and stayed in touch via social media.

John DULSON has raised the bar during his virtual Prosecco challenge during February.

Paul GRUBB entertained members posing in his red Badgers comic relief nose and there was much debate regarding new footwear brands for Vicki SMITH and her size 13 feet.

As Spring approaches and another lockdown eases, the warmer weather and lighter nights will be a welcome boost for all.

The clubs' Fantasy Football league organised by Chris HORTON has certainly been a welcome distraction over the winter period, with HORTON himself looking to penetrate the top 3.
