RETURN TO RACING AND RECORD-BREAKING

Several club runners took part in the Prestwold 5K with Adrian PAYNE first back in a quality time of 17:57. Husband and wife duo and BADGERS very own version of Sonny and Cher were also in attendance, as Jimmy (19:40) and Cherelle (23:11) DEWIS both broke club V50 records. The all-action David CRAIG, the second cousin of Bond star Daniel, reaped the benefits of his lockdown training crossing the finish line in 21:33 with club chairperson Danny WARREN admiring from afar after a rare but somewhat shambolic administrative error.

Mention the word Carolina and you could be forgiven for thinking of a Neil Diamond hit ranked popular with football fans up and down the country. Oh Carolina was a hit from American based singer/songwriter Shaggy, but it was Stateside BADGER Angela STALLINGS hitting all the right notes this week, as she competed in the 16K NC Spring Classic in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The positive ex-club secretary completed the event in 1:39:31 following recent health battles in what is believed to be her first non-hybrid / virtual race since 2020.

2 club stalwarts of the highest calibre were once again on marathon duties. Liz PEEL and club mental health ambassador Karen THOMPSON completed their 90th and 85th events over the full distance, finishing in 5:12.

Vicky JENNINGS was in fine form as she ran the 10k distance in aid of RNLI. (1:16)

Maggi SAVIN-BADEN was another topping the charts, as she was rewarded with her gold plus standard time over 6 miles (53:02) and in Worcester, Stephanie ATTENBOROUGH was the 15th female home at the 22 mile Ring Run Trail. (4:34:51)

Andy SMITH and Holly McClay were on volunteer duties on day one at the Shindig in the Shire, racing the half marathon on Bank Holiday Monday and 2 colourful club characters (not impartial to the odd shindig themselves) said “I D0”, as David GRANT popped the question to his now new fiancée, fellow BADGER Yvonne FAULKNER.
