BADGERS GO DUTCH
A group of Badgers parkrun tourists went further than ever before at the weekend with a trip to Holland, in particular the Zuiderpark parkrun in Den Haag. Paul Cooper led the way home with Nicki Bowman right behind. Paul and Mandy Restall, Eileen McCarry, Anne-Marie Dittman and Karen Draper were also in action as were Clare Carter, her mum Michelle, Janet Crumpton, Leesa Dennis and Merv Jones. The intrepid collective made a nice mini break of the whole affair visiting Amsterdam during their long weekend stay.
At the Tatton Park half marathon, V40 ace Mark Repton put in a good shift to record a solid gold standard time of 84:28 and multi-sport icon Jimmy Dewis added another string to his bow by finishing the Saltergate Gallop fell race in North Yorkshire, around half marathon distance in 2:09.
In other parkruns, Kingsbury Water Park saw a slew of top ten finishes from Badgers, Chris Tweed edging out Adrian Payne to take fourth by one second in 19:58. Matt Green took 7th place and Jim Cottom 8th while the ladies were represented by Nivette Chester (4th in 24:17) and Jane Barrett 5th.
At nearby Tamworth Castle, Rachel Crump came within ten seconds of her V50 club record with a classy 22:21 to finish second lady, with Victoria Jones running an impressive 24:10 in 8th. Sara Hawkins clocked a course best 35:31.
Chris Horton was the quickest Badger of the weekend, with the third fastest parkrun of his career, 16:46 at Long Eaton, good enough for third place. Glyn Broadhurst and Megan Griffiths were each fifth in the gender categories at Isabel Trail running 18:12 and 22:04 respectively while Mark Jarvis took 4th at Bedworth in 20:34.
