REPTONS ROMP HOME AS REAL RACING RETURNS

As lockdown restrictions begin to ease, a number of Badgers found themselves involved in some authentic races across the Midlands at the weekend hopeful of the prospect of more to follow in the near future. Mallory Park held a series of races in a Covid secure setting and it was men’s vice captain Mark Repton who was in great form finishing the 5K there in a very respectable 17:52. However, the Dosthill man could feel a little hard done by as several of the competitors reported that the race appeared to measure long meaning his true time for the distance was likely to be far quicker than the 17:52 achieved. Mark wasn’t the only Repton in action as his elder brother Wayne featured at the Leicestershire Half Marathon at Prestwold Hall. The V40 ace clocked 1:51:42 for the 13.1 mile distance a few minutes ahead of new team mate Russell Lomas who ran 1:59:15, well inside his target time.

At the Longhorn Half Marathon, Ivana Babicova, another new recruit clocked 2:19:23 a new personal best time while Chloe Brown competed in the 10K distance. Liz Peel was in action over in Ironbridge as she completed her 89th marathon event, the Charles Darwin Day marathon.
