How it Started
Baddesley And District Group of Enlightened Running Souls, short name BADGERS was formed as a Run England group in August 2011, this was from one woman's passion and the support of a few friends. Since then the group has grown exponentially and official England Athletics affiliation was granted in March 2013.
Enjoyment and fun is at the centre of everything the group do and encouragement is abundant, so whether you are looking to run your first 5k, improve a personal best (PB), target a marathon or simply try and get a bit fitter. BADGERS is without doubt one of the best and most social clubs to join in the North Warwickshire area.
BADGERS now comprise over 200 like minded individuals of all abilities, from Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire, sharing a passion for friendly, supportive running.
The club has training nights 3 times a week, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and caters for all ability levels, ages and motivations.
Long run weekend sessions are available along with entry into various league races and competitions across the Midlands.
In addition, the BADGERS help to support the local parkrun at Kingsbury Water, we arrange a monthly 'group' parkrun on the first Saturday of the month.
BADGERS is run entirely by dedicated volunteers, who give up their free time to promote supportive running.
The management group undertake the running of the club, day to to day administration, writing press releases, updating the website and organising all the club events, plus a lot more behind the scenes.
The Run Leaders are not only experienced runners and qualified, but friendly and approachable. They are keen to help the club members with all of their running goals.
By having volunteers, it helps to keep down costs but also encourages an all-inclusive, family atmosphere. A list of our current volunteers including the Management Group, Run Leaders and Team Captains can be found by looking in our "Meet The Team" section.
If you would like to join the management group you can put yourself forward for one of the outgoing roles at the AGM held in March each year. Please see the constitution for more information.
