Social Run

Thursday 18:30 - 19:30

Cost: Free to members, £2 for guests (guest can attend for a maximum of 4 sessions in a 12 month period)

Thursday night is the club's social run, this is an unstructured session. There are two Run Leaders each planning a route. One route is Short (3-4miles) and the other is Long (6-8miles).

In order to take part in these sessions we ask that you are able to RUN at least 3 miles / 5k.

These sessions are for all abilities, all different types of runners are welcome to join. The session is scheduled to last for an hour. Please when choosing a route, take into account the distance / terrain / elevation and think about if you are capable of achieving the route in the time frame.

You are free to run this session as you wish. It could be a relaxed run chatting with others or a hard tempo run on your own, or maybe something in between.

There are a few things that we ask you MUST do for safety reasons.

  • Have familiarised yourself with the set route prior to the session.

  • Register with a run leader at the start of the session.

  • Keep to the set route. You MUST not take detours to either increase or decrease the distance. (Extra should be done either before or after the session)

  • At the end of the session make sure a RUN LEADER knows you are back and safe, before leaving.

We ask if possible you try to run with someone of similar ability, we realise this is not always possible or you may not want to. So if you find yourself on your own and feel uncomfortable or vulnerable for any reason we ask you to loop back to the next person behind you. There will always be a Run Leader at the back of the group if you need them or want to run with them.

(Note: This is not a membership form, the membership form can only be found online and only need to be completed if you wish to become a member of the club)

Important Notices

  • Please arrive by 18:20 in order to pay subs, sessions are scheduled to start at 18:30.

  • It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the route prior to the run.

  • You MUST register with a RUN LEADER at the start of the session.

  • You MUST stay to the set routes, do NOT take detours to alter the distance of the routes.

  • At the end of the session make sure a RUN LEADER knows you are back and safe, before leaving.

  • Hi-visibility clothing and head torch are ESSENTIAL to run! Your Run Leader may not let you run without them.

  • Please make sure you are well hydrated.

  • Please keep to the paths where available, be mindful and give way to pedestrians.

  • If running on roads please be aware of traffic and run in single file towards oncoming vehicles.

  • Taking part in the sessions is done at your own risk.

  • Please park legally and sensibly at all times.

COVID-19

  • Runners will not attend a training session if they have tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Runners should notify the club COVID-19 Officer (Nivette Chester) if they test positive for COVID-19 and have attended a recent club training session.

  • Runners must sign in with the Run Leader at the start of the session.
