SHOCK AS BADGERS NOT OUT IN FORCE

With the last league race of the season approaching at the weekend, many Badgers took it upon themselves to rest their legs in readiness for the grand finale. There were a couple of exceptions to this rule however as Steph Attenborough got out and about as she took on the Covid-secure Catch the Train Trail Race. Starting at Dore and Totley, batches of six runners set off at staggered intervals to take on an undulating 15K course, equivalent to three parkruns, ending up in Hathersage. With an entry limit of 90 for the event, plucky Attenborough dug deep to get back in a time of 1:47:18 and in doing so held the honour of being the sole Badger in race action over the week.

Outgoing Badgers performance director Dave Jackson clocked a staggering 82 miles in training having missed the last race two weeks ago through injury. After four years in the role, the former pool-playing body-builder, who made his name north of the border, is stepping down to focus on his new role as global ambassador for Bobby’s Crisps.

As well as the conclusion of the LRRL Lockdown League season, this week also sees the club’s delayed AGM taking place electronically. A number of roles are expected to change hands from Chair to Kit supervisor, more details will follow in due course.
